Anglers love the West Coast for fishing and catching crayfish. But it’s also the place for some of the best seafood experiences, from a community-run kitchen serving smoorsnoek, viskoekies and roosterkoek, fish shops in Doringbaai to insider specialities served up at many sea-side restaurants.
The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and The Environment (Department) announced the West Coast Rock Lobster Recreational Fishing Season:
- Open season 2024-2025 for 12 Days:
- 16, 29, 30 & 31 Dec 2024
- 1,4,5 & 12 Jan 2025
- 21, 22, 29 & 30 March 2025
- WCRL may be caught between 08h00 and 16h00 on the specified days.
- Only persons over the age of 12 may obtain a recreational fishing permit
- Permits can be purchased at the Post Office or online at https://www.fishing.dffe.gov.za/
