Recreational West Coast Rock Lobster Fishing (2025/26 Season)
Itโs that exciting time of year again โ the West Coast Rock Lobster season has arrived! Strandfontein and Doringbaai remain firm favourites for locals and visitors eager to cast their nets and enjoy the thrill of catching crayfish. Whether youโre a seasoned fisherman or simply looking to experience this coastal tradition, the season promises unforgettable moments by the sea.
The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment has confirmed the recreational West Coast Rock Lobster fishing dates for the 2025/26 season.
Minister Willie Aucamp said: โThese dates have been finalised following a thorough and science-based assessment to ensure that recreational opportunities are balanced with the long-term sustainability of our marine resources.โ

Fishing is prohibited on all other days. Fishers must hold a valid recreational permit and comply with bag and size limits. Bag Limit: Four(4) West Coast Rock Lobster per person per day
